ACE FREHLEY in Concert, Debaser Medis November 30, 2009.

It is an understatement to say that people have high expectations before the performance at Debaser Medis in, Stockholm Sweden November 30 2009. Half of the audience at the sold out venue are seasoned fans that have followed KISS through the decades. The other half consist of youngsters, there to see a living guitar hero live this evening in October. He is one of the most influential guitarist still alive and kicking.

You know, Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmi Page, BB King Eric Clapton and Ace Frehley.

Ace Frehley pulls an Axl Rose stunt and when the band finally hit the stage they is well over one and a half hour late. Ace Frehley seems really relaxed and happy as he gets on stage waving to the crowd. The audience eats out of his palms from the first second, this is an easy to please crowd reacting to even the slightest gesture on stage.

This gig is just as the gig in 2007 a big surprise. The sound is really good and Ace sure can play guitar with his trademark style. He is digging around with his pick among the strings creating a style sounding almost like chicken picking. He is jerking the mic switch using is as an on/off switch creating his trademark staccato sound. He sound like no one else and he is just fantastic in his own unique way. The band backing him up is solid as a rock, keeping Ace on track when he get to creative. Ace himself is loose just as usual but that is a part of the charm. He sometimes leaves the mic already before he has finished the lyric line and the voice fades early. Sometimes he is soloing quite free taking no notice of the original material, but what the hell, he is free to interprete his own material just as he like.

The songs Rocket Ride, Rock Soldiers, 2000 Man, Outer Space, Sister and Parasite are all kicking us into party mode. Snowblind is introduced as a song written about cocaine. Something that he wouldn't recommend for anyone in the crowd since it isn't healthy. Parasite is introduced as a song about bitches that cling onto your back and on the whole Ace is just Ace the way we have come to love him. Not so articulate and certainly not politically correct, but genuinely nice.

Ace leaves the mic to the band during Love Her All I Can and it sound great. We think that Ace should let the band do this more since more of the KISS back catalog can be performed.

We took some great shots at the concert and we will publish them here in the near future. If you need print quality images for any reason get in contact with us and we'll see what we can do.
