Journey is a band that everyone know about and aolready have their mind made up. Journey is one of the classic AOR bands that have forged the music scene of today. They started out in the seventies as a traditional rock band and they reaped huge success in the beginning of the eighties and quite a few of their old tracks are immortal arena anthems.
In 1984, on the height of their success the band took a break and both Steve Perry and Neal Schon went off doing solo albums.
With their brand new album Eclipse it seems like Journey have decided to pick up were it once began, like an arena rock band like Styx, Foreigner and Boston.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, keyboardist Jonathan Cain recently described Eclipse as "a concept record with some spiritual themes to it … pretty tough, hard-hitting stuff.”, "We just felt like it was time to send a message to the world about how we feel about life in general.”
It seems like Journey is doing something right after all.
The opening track City Of Hope is a really strong track with an airy mix and razor sharp guitar work. The sound is tougher and the guitar work predominant in the arrangements. The mood is slightly darker and a track like Chain Of Love is great and measure up by any standard.
If you liked Journey back in 1985 you surely will enjoy Eclipse and we recommend the album to anyone with even the slightest interest in AOR.
Welcome maggot you are awaited.
Hi there, things are shifting around ever so slowly here at Heavy Hell, we do what we want in the pace we feel is appropriate.
Lately we have migrated the entire site to a brand new code platform, This will allow us to do awesome things that up until now have been utterly impossible. The bad thing is that the news updates will be random at best for a while.
