We are amazed that this is the same band as the shitty band that opened up for Paradise Lost some ten years ago. Their evolution is truly striking.
Our Finish friends Amorphis just love to blend traditional melody lines into their death metal. They heir from the land of the thousand lakes with a rich fantastic folk lore. It would be a shame if they didn't make use of it. Amorphis has always mixed melodic elements into their Death Metal with finesse and fine taste. The new album "The Beginning Of Times" follow suite with "Skyforger" that focused on the Kallevalla tradition. The new album tells the story of Väinämöinen, the creator of the world, one of the iconic heroes of Finnish mythology.
Amorphis themselves has described "The Beginning Of Times" as their most challenging album up to date. The Nightwish bass player Marco Hietala has recorded all the vocals in his home studio in Kuopio. Like its predecessors, the album was mixed by Mikko Karmila.
Amorphis stick to what they know and why alter anything if it isn't broken? The song writing is just as good as on Skyforger and the album sure will please the current fan base. The new album is slightly more experimental and include quite a bit of female vocals as well as violin, lute and some flute. At
times the sound is more ambient and progressive than metal which is surprising considering the background of Amorphis. At times the singing effort of Tomi Joutsen resembles Marko "Mark" Saaresto quite a bit.
The beginning of times a really strong release that we surely will be intrigued by for a long time to come.
Welcome maggot you are awaited.
Hi there, things are shifting around ever so slowly here at Heavy Hell, we do what we want in the pace we feel is appropriate.
Lately we have migrated the entire site to a brand new code platform, This will allow us to do awesome things that up until now have been utterly impossible. The bad thing is that the news updates will be random at best for a while.
